BETWEEN THE MOUNTAIN AND THE SEA

Nestled at the foot of Table Mountain on the Atlantic seaboard, lies the historic city of Cape Town.
View over Table Bay with the city centre
 and Victoria and Alfred wharf.
Simon van der Stel, the first Governor of the Cape of Good Hope, established a colony here to supply the trade ships of the Dutch East Indies Company with fresh water, vegetables and other proviand to sustain them on their long trips to the East in search of their much sought-after spices.
